The conferences
GCH 2023 will be held from the 4th until the 6th of September 2023.
XR Salento 2023 will be held from the 6th until the 9th of September 2023.
Although the two conferences are organised separately, with two submissions and registration systems, a common special session dedicated to “XR for Cultural Heritage” is organised jointly, on the 6th of September.
Those interested in attending both events, will receive a special discount of 20% on the two registration fees.
GCH 2023
EUROGRAPHICS Workshop on Graphics and Cultural Heritage is a thematic workshop of Eurographics dedicated to promote the discussion and exchange of information between researchers on Visual Media technologies and the Cultural Heritage community. The main activity of the WG is to supervise the organization of the annual Eurographics Symposium on Graphics and Cultural Heritage (GCH). The symposium was started in 2003, co-organized with VAST in the first 10 editions. The GCH Symposium has been an independent event since 2013. In 2013 and 2015 it was part of the federated conference Digital Heritage. All symposium proceedings are stored and accessible on the EG Digital Library. With the 2023 edition, GCH is extending the publication of papers as to appear in a selection of scientific journals (ACM JOCCH Journal, Elsevier DAACH; MDPI Heritage; Elsevier JCH). GCH2023 welcomes presentations of new research, projects, applications and best practices that demonstrate how computer graphics and digital technologies are impacting CH research, preservation, simulation, dissemination and promotion of sustainable cultural tourism. Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches are particularly welcome to the event. Focus of this year’s forum is to present and showcase new developments at the crossroads of AI technologies with rendering, reconstruction and advanced user experiences applied to the cultural heritage. The aim is to foster discussion between AI, Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, HCI and Digital Heritage researchers, in a collaborative environment with cultural institutions, scholars in the cultural heritage domain and creative industries.
XR Salento 2023
The International Conference on eXtended Reality is an event dedicated to the eXtended Reality (XR), the umbrella term that covers Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR). XR SALENTO is an evolution of previous editions of the International Conference on Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Computer Graphics (Salento AVR), which had united the AR/VR community since 2014. To cope with the increasing demand of application of XR technologies in several fields, XR Salento 2023 will also focus on topics such as Digital Twins embracing Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Mining to create a digital representation, gather and store real-time data, simulate the future state, and facilitate optimization.
The Location
Convitto Palmieri was an historical religious building, dating back to the 13th century. In 1273, in fact, the city of Lecce decided to build a convent for the friars of Saint Francis and a church dedicated to this Saint, that lays in the same location where Saint Francis, coming back from the East at the beginning of the 13th cent, had built the first chapel for his community of friars, originally entitled to Saint Julian.

How to reach Lecce
1. By Flight:
The nearest airports to Lecce are Brindisi (BDS) and Bari (BRI).
Brindisi is the nearest airport (40 km far):
Daily flights connect Brindisi to the many international airports. For a complete list please visit the airport website.
From the Airport you can take a Bus to Lecce (40 minutes journey between 4 and 7 €) or a Shuttle Service to Lecce is also available. (For the reservation visit the page; the shuttle driver will take you to your accommodation in Lecce). Alternatively you can also Rent a car for the week, at a reasonable price (i.e. 500 €/Week in economycarrentals website).
If you land in Bari Palese Airport (150 km far), in approximately 2 hours you can reach Bari central station by taxi or bus and then Lecce by train. Information is available on this site.
2. By Train:
Lecce is connected, also with High Speed trains, to Italian main cities, such as Milan, Bologna and Rome.

Accomodation
In Lecce you can find plenty of Hotels, B&B and AIRB&Bs and the costs may vary, starting from around 50 €/day.
The conference main hotel is the 4 stars: “Grand Hotel Tiziano e dei Congressi” (Via Porta d’Europa – 73100 Lecce, +39.0832.272111, info@grandhoteltiziano.it, www.grandhoteltiziano.it). At the moment, the cost per room of the hotel is rated 816€/week or 117€/day.
You can also choose to stay in Otranto, in case you would prefer to find accommodation directly on the seafront. In this case, we suggest you have a car to reach the conference location in Lecce. Costs are similar to accommodations in Lecce.
